It comes down to what you want to do, The XC is a nice range toy, you cant really compete with it in a comp though, it put you in the open class and you are up against true open guns. You can do it, you are just gonna be out gunned. The P allows you to do much more if you are into the competition side of things.

After that, you need to like it and shoot it well. If you don't like it or shoot it well, it's worth considering a change. As far as recoil, work on strengthening your wrists and grip.

The Staccato-C is just as good as the rest. I'm very happy with my C. I'm a fan of well done grips, the stock grip in my opinion was sub par especially since I have well over 12 guns with STI's Costa or DVC grips. They are done for STI by Extreme Shooters.
