The fix was to take an Xacto knife and scrape the top part of this outline. It probably required a MM or less of material removal. You caould also probably slightly file the thumb lever itself, but it would need to be removed. Hopefully Ruger reads these forums - the problem could easily be fixed by grinding a MM off the bottom of the thumb lever.Within only a few clicks, it happened. Exactly the same thing that happened last time: the safety is stuck in off position. After a few dozen clicks, in less than ten clicks, it froze. I couldn't budge it with bare fingers. I put on a pair of leather gloves and managed to work it another dozen times.Ruger Security-9 Construction. Just purchased an LCP a few weeks ago and i've noticed when i pull the slide back with a full clip it has a tendency to stick in the rear-ward position. If i tap the side of the gun or pull the slide back it will go forward though.The Ruger Security 9 is my first "Hammer Style" semi auto pistol. With the advertised "95% cocked hammer" it has me second guessing carrying loaded without the safety engaged. 13 years of daily carry, and you haven't shot yourself yet is a pretty good track record. It's all about trigger discipline.
Problems with Max 9. Today was the second time I was able to take my new Max 9 out to the range. The first time I did, the slide wasn't able to return to battery via slingshoting it. Also, just after firing a box of range rounds, the plastic takedown gate completely broke off causing the slide to get stuck back after almost every shot. Consider replacing your magazines if the problem persists. Improper grip or limp-wristing: The Ruger Security 9 relies on a firm grip to ensure reliable feeding. Make sure you have a firm, proper grip and avoid limp-wristing the firearm. Practice your grip and shooting technique to improve feed reliability.
Possibly call local gun smith. Hold slide. Slam palm onto grip. Repeat. it could be the round stuck that's preventing the slide from moving. If you can press on the extractor (releasing case) while pulling the slide back, you may get it to move. That reminded me of mine, I was shooting it when new and then I had a misfeed on the 21st round, like a level 3 malfunction. I had a hard time removing the partially loaded magazine, but got it and the round out. Then it was a tussle to get the chambered brass out, but I did that.
