Dodge Durango Starting Problems. I wanna start this off by saying i don’t know much about cars. But recently my 2020 dodge Durango gt wouldn’t start in the parking lot and my check engine light was on, there was a click but it would not start. So I got it towed and they replaced my alternator and starter.Check the positive post at the fuse box and grounded at the “jump post”, 10v. Start the Durango and voltage at the battery goes to 16.7v, voltage at the fuse box is 10, 9, 8, 7, 6 dropping. Electronics go nuts, engine sputters and shuts off. You cant even shut off the engine.
I visit your forum and I must say it is great. Two years ago I fulfilled my dream and bought a new Durango RT AWD. From the very beginning the car has a problem with a warm start. When Durango tries to start with a warm engine after about 1.5 - 2 hours of standing, it does not want to start. The diagnostics do not show any fault.

You could also check voltage drop when you engage the starter, both at the battery and also on the starter motor lead. Otherwise, pull the starter and get it tested. Start with the ignition key at the off position. Rotate it from off to run (not start) 3 time within 5 seconds. you'll end up leaving it in run. Any stored codes will display on the odometer readout. The problem is the coil has intermittent problems when hot and a voltage test will not identify it when cold. So I went and bought two OEM coil packs from the dealer and while there a service tech said coil packs 7 & 8 are common to go as water tends to drip on them more for the challengers due to the hood vents.
