Consider a Captain America build so you can Grapple. Classes like Champion give up damage to tank effectively, and you should be willing to do that too if that's your goal. Alternately, use a 2-hander and pick up Shield and Glass Shield cantrips. Do enough damage that the enemy can't ignore you.

Arcane Strike, as an every-turn action, has to compete with the rest of a Magus' toolbox, but does so fairly poorly. Arcane Strike does not draw from the Arcane Pool, even stacking with it, but the cost outweighs the benefits.The cookie-cutter Magus favors 18-20/×2 crit profiles, so an Arcane Strike often boils down to 2-8 extra damage at most ...Magus really is a class that needs some deciation, since its features are spread out. That is the biggest hurdle for this build imo. You won't be a full gunslinger, so won't have your way reload until later levels to help even out your action economy. And Magus in general is already pretty action starved. Starlit is less so than the melee centric ones, but spellstrike being 2 actions makes it tough to fit in reload actions.
