Don't look at the numbers when testing a build. Establish test monsters. My easy test monster is Rathian. Complete a hunt from start to finish and compare clear times. You're using Pierce LBG so 20 damage is great. Narga lbg is what you want to focus on if you can build it. Magnamalo lbg is good with a wide variety of ammo types. The Izuchi lbg is easy to build and a good stepping stone to either Narga or Magnamalo. Pick armors that have crit eye or attack boost.

To my understanding, elemental ammos double dip on raw since they have both a physical and elemental motion value which scales off of your attack so when you pump attack, you pump both the physical and elemental portion of the ammos. While RF Ele Pierce is indeed a loss in dps from straight Ele Piercing, it can be more ammo efficient and aim-forgiving which is nice in multiplayer. Pierce is good and easy to play, but I have found it not on par with other builds. I have been using La Vertu. Shreds Magnamalo, and things like Bazel and Goss, but struggled with lots of white numbers against everything else. Spread 3 with final boss LBG just wrecks, but I only use it against small guys and Rajang.RF Pierce 2 is a all rounder build that can handle most hunts. Slicing is stupid strong atm. Get Zinogre's LBG, then stack affinity skills and crit boost. Get spare shot of course, you only get 60 shots with crafts. Versus monsters with heads or other parts very weak to cutting (55+ or 15+ above shot), this set up will easily sub 5 with a little practice (Got the new "hidden" monster in 4:30 with it).
The goal here is to keep the monster still in one place for as long as possible, and minimize the chances the monster has to hit your allies back. The opening combo I have in mind for a status build would be: sleep -> bombs / heavy ally attack + shock trap -> paralysis -> pit trap -> KO -> sleep -> more bombs / heavy hit + ally shock trap ...
