Don't know if this will work for you but I went into General, settings where I had three keyboards: english, emoji, and bitmoji. I removed the emoji keyboard and my bitmoji keyboard instantly started working again like it used to. It almost seemed like my phone couldn't handle two emoji-like keyboards.
