While taking everything apart I noticed that the spool / pulley that the cable wraps around is quite worn down and I used a mini hand saw to make the grooves a bit deeper before putting it all back together.This is most often caused by a bad rear door latch, not the hinge/roller. If the hinge/roller has 100K on it and hasn't been changed then it probably needs it but it's not the cause of a non-working door.
