Jake brake not working on high.
If the switch is not removing ground when turned off or the wire running from the switch has rubbed into a ground, the engine ecm will continue to keep the jake turned on. To test you could disconnect the switch and see if the jake stays on. If it does, the problem is in the wiring. If it does not, the switch is the problem.

Kristine, the buffer switch is mounted in the rear off the mechanism that controls the throttle opening. When you let off the throttle, the buffer switch contacts close and let the Jakes operate thru the control switch that you have up front. If you have the throttle open, even just a little bit, the Jakes will not work.

If you are engine braking going down hill, shift, and the Claas overdrive misses a gear and drops into neutral, the next press of the exhaust brake will also kill the engine.
