Back to the OP's dilemma. I'd take the JMZ to Woodhaven Blvd. Transfer to the Q53 bus going towards the 74/Roosevelt. (this part of the ride is real fast). From 74/Roosevelt, transfer to the Q70 and you'll be in LGA. Don't ask me why the Q53 doesn't stop at Atlantic Avenue. It does stop at 91st Av/Woodhaven Blvd -- 3 blocks north.
