To the west of the road leading to the south shore of the state park is a remote road with a small sign that says "scenic overlook". It leads back to an area where you can explore the bluffs on foot. Quite a beautiful sight. Castle Rock Badlands are west of the lake about 30 minutes and well worth the effort to visit.
The Lovewell State Park Office is open 8am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday; Closed Saturday/Sunday.
