Difference between glock 30 and 30s.

Jun 15, 2016 · I have been looking to add a Glock 45 to my stable of Glocks. I am having a very hard time deciding between the 30 and the 30S. I know the 30 is a sweet shooter in a small package, but it is fairly hefty. All that heft does absorb recoil though. The 30s is thinner in the slide and obviously a lighter gun. The penalty there is more recoil. The overall thickness of the Glick 30 is 1.38 inches and the Glock 36 has 1.18 inches thickness. The slide is 1.12 inches thick on the Glock 30 and 1.0 inches on the Glock 36. So, there’s a little yet obvious difference between their overall size and thickness. This slight difference makes the Glock 36 better to hold and concealed carry. When I got my 30S I posted a side by side size comparison (dunno if it was in this forum or another) with the 30s with the 9rd mag and the 10rd mag compared to my G26 and G19. The difference with the 9rd mag is incredible. It's only roughly 3cm taller than the G26 (eyeing it not actually measured).The GLOCK 30 SF in 45 Auto caliber has a shortened frame with reduced grip dimensions. Nov 9, 2010 · I now have the G30S that has become one of my primary carry guns, especially in cooler weather. The thinner slide does make a difference. If you have large hands, I use the 10 round mags for pinky support. As someone else said, the 30S has a short frame although I never noticed the difference.

I bought the G30SF when my G30Gen4 developed a mag and mag catch problem. On my Gen4, I've had two mag catches and springs replaced due to excessive wear of the catch and the notches in the mags. Mags would fall out upon firing the gun. G30/G30S are more similar to P320 or XD Mod.2 subcompacts. Shield carries 1 round more than even Kahr CW45 and 2 more than CM45 or XD-S (although Springfield provide extended magazines).
