CJ heads have much larger intake ports and runners, which allow them to take advantage of 2.24" valves. You should replace positive stop nuts with Kool Nuts on any early ('68-71) head.

Ford themselves 35 years ago found that the DOVE heads only needed the intakes cleaned up and the exh bump removed and then rework the high side of the port.
