Trijicon seems to be brighter, at least in the yellow sights. I do notice a big difference between the XR and XD. XD certainly provides fast target acquisition at self defense ranges, but so does the XR. If you train front sight shooting, I don't think you'll notice much difference at all.

No offense to Springfield owners, but i don’t think this is much of a competition. Glock absolutely dunks on the XD. I’ve shot the XD plenty of times and it’s by no means a bad gun, but I don’t think I would ever buy one when a G17/19 is only an extra $100. Glock will obviously have a heavy following for obvious and legitimate reasons. I can only speak from personal experience, but I was down to a Glock, M&P and a XD 9. I've never for one second regretting going with the XD. Had the chance to shoot them all side by side after the fact and that only further solidified my happiness.

With the Springfield XD-9, I’m nearly spot on. As a striker-fired pistol, the XD’s trigger is extremely consistent, as is the reset. There’s plenty of take-up. But the trigger never feels squishy or gritty.
