There's a level 8 magus feat called Spell Swipe that allows you to use it on two foes in melee. The big benefits of Imaginary Weapon amped is that it scales absolutely ridiculously. 1d8 for a 1st level cantrip, and when amped every spell level increase it gains increases the damage by 2d8 instead of just 1d8.

A normal magus can't spellstrike with a ranged attack. If he casts a touch spell then throws a weapon, it's just a normal thrown weapon attack, he can hold the charge. The Magus is an arcane Striker, and primarily functions in melee combat. Spellstrike and Spell Combat allow the magus to deliver touch attach spells alongside normal attacks, which can make for some very impressive damage output. The Magus depends on intelligence and gets all knowledge skills, so a Magus can serve as the party’s librarian.

Some spell strikes with the new spells can net you well over 100-120 damage in a crit at Character lvl 7 so this is probably one of the highest damage crit builds out there. You also start out with heavy armor so thats another major plus. That last part was the only nuance. There is not that much "enchanting an ally weapon" magic available in Pathfinder, so Vivi needs to make a lot out of a little.
